Covenant University is dedicated to promoting Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being. Through education, research, partnerships, and impactful health initiatives, we strive to create a healthier community both within and beyond the university and local community

3.2.1. Commitment to Good Health and Well-Being

At Covenant University, we strive to foster healthy living and enhanced well-being for all by integrating health-focused initiatives into our academic and operational framework. Our goal is to address local and global health challenges through education, innovation, and community engagement.

Covenant University medical Centre opened her doors to receive patients after commissioning by the Chancellor of Covenant University, Dr. David O. Oyedepo on the 22nd of November 2014. The Centre is equipped with state of the art equipment worthy of a world class University. The Medical Centre is a 70 bed hospital with about 10 specialist areas.

Covenant University Medical Centre provides free annual health checks for faculty and staff, alongside paid medical services for the wider community.

Following our commitment to good health and well being, Covenant University has aided in the renovation of community health centers, including the Iju-Ota Health Centre. This serves to enhance healthcare delivery in underserved areas.

3.2.2. Health Education and Awareness

Covenant University educate local communities through regular health campaigns, workshops and seminars aimed at promoting awareness about topics like nutrition, disease prevention, mental health and sexual health.

Partnerships with organizations such as Rotary International, African Network for Preventive Health and Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA) offer weeklong medical missions and screenings for the community.

Breast and prostate cancer awareness programs conducted in collaboration with Beulah World, CAPTC and CApIC-ACE have had a significant impact on local health outcomes. It has also sensitized local residents on the importance of regular health checks and screening.

Outreach programs such as the World Malaria Day Campaign underline Covenant University’s commitment to community health.

3.2.3. Research and Innovation

Faculty-led research projects focus on addressing global health challenges, including precision oncology and genomics  organized by CApIC-ACE.

Collaborative research partnerships with institutions like Illumina, St. George’s University, and Northeastern University foster innovation in life sciences and healthcare.
