IFTDO–CYWEE Officials Visit Covenant University to Deepen Collaboration

Officials from the International Federation of Training and Development Organisations (IFTDO), under the platform of the Committee for Youth and Women Entrepreneur Empowerment (CYWEE), paid a courtesy visit to the Covenant University Management with a view to deepening and strengthening existing collaborations between both institutions.

Leading the delegation was Dr. (Mrs.) Janet Jolaoso, Board Member and Chairman-Elect of IFTDO, as well as Chairman of CYWEE. The visit was aimed at reviewing and renewing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IFTDO and Covenant University, which had lapsed since July 2025.

In her remarks, Dr. Jolaoso expressed deep appreciation to Covenant University for its unwavering support for IFTDO and CYWEE since her initial visit to the institution in 2021. She recalled that, as a budding leader in the organisation at the time, Covenant University’s warm reception and encouragement provided the foundation upon which many of their subsequent successes were built.

She noted that Covenant University and The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, were among her first points of contact when she began her journey with IFTDO, and that the University’s partnership and mentorship have been instrumental in empowering over 85 women through various capacity-building and entrepreneurship initiatives.

Dr. Jolaoso also extended her appreciation to the University’s former Vice-Chancellors for their visionary support, as well as to distinguished faculty members including Professor Tayo George, Dr. Aderonke Asaolu, Professor Felicia Olokoyo, and Dr. Kehinde Oyesomi, among others, for their active roles in promoting women empowerment and leadership development.

While apologizing for earlier scheduling lapses that prevented a previous meeting with the Vice-Chancellor from holding, Dr. Jolaoso reiterated her commitment to strengthening the partnership with Covenant University and solicited continued institutional support for IFTDO–CYWEE initiatives.

In his welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Anake, commended the delegation for their visit and applauded IFTDO’s sustained impact in human capital and entrepreneurial development, driving the Sustainble Development Goals on Quality education (SDG 4), Decent work and economic growth (SDG 8) and Partnerships for the goals (SDG 17).

He reaffirmed Covenant University’s readiness to continue supporting the organisation’s programmes, noting that their objectives align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); a key pillar in the University’s global engagement and ranking efforts.

Professor Anake also encouraged IFTDO to expedite the process of renewing the MoU to enable a more active and mutually beneficial collaboration. He conveyed warm greetings from the Chancellor, Dr. David O. Oyedepo, who was recently honoured by IFTDO, and advised the visiting team to liaise with the University’s Directorate of International Office and Linkages (DIOL) for more structured partnership outcomes.

Present at the meeting were the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Igban; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lanre Amodu and other members of the University management.
