Faith Oyedepo Charges Covenant University’s 20th Graduating Set to Influence Global Transformation

The Pro-Chancellor and Esteemed Regent of Covenant University, Pastor (Mrs.) Faith Oyedepo, has charged the graduating Class of 2025 to go into the world as Change Agents and reformers, who will lead transformation in their various spheres of influence, thereby promoting Quality education (SDG 4).

She gave this charge during her address at the Special Convocation Service of the University’s 20th Release of Eagles’ Ceremony, held at the Covenant University Chapel. Speaking on the topic, ‘Becoming a Change Agent in a Changing World,’ Pastor (Mrs.) Oyedepo reminded the graduands that they have been divinely commissioned to be reformers and to
embrace radical, purpose-driven thinking that will position them as leaders, particularly in Africa, and beyond.

She emphasized the importance of building spiritual capacity, noting that true success in an ever- changing world depends not merely on intelligence or skill, but on spiritual and emotional depth. “Only those with inner strength will be able to withstand the world’s evolving challenges,” she said, citing the biblical example of Joseph as one who thrived through divine wisdom and character.

According to her, “The world today is in dire need of trustworthy individuals. It is not drawn merely to brilliance, but to integrity. True Change Agents must embody truthfulness and reliability, for those who can be trusted will ultimately emerge as the real leaders.” She further admonished the graduates to prioritize character alongside competence, stressing that “education without character is like a sword without a handle.” Quoting from Daniel 6:3, she reminded them that Daniel excelled above his peers because “an excellent spirit was found in him,” and that same spirit has been imparted to every Covenant University graduate. “Never forget that you carry the divine mark of excellence like Daniel,” she continued. “Maintain a kingly standard wherever life takes you. The world needs courageous innovators who stand for truth, purity, and integrity.”

In her concluding words, Pastor (Mrs.) Oyedepo urged the graduates to embody excellence and compassion in their chosen professions. “Be the engineer who designs with ingenuity, the doctor who heals with compassion, and the teacher who teaches with passion,” she said. “Like Queen Esther, dare to challenge the status quo and make a difference in your generation, because the whole world is waiting for you.”
